Painting the Frame

So I've been priming and prepping all of the endoskeleton pieces as well as some of the weapons. I noticed a lot of folks were finishing each piece at a time. Such as getting the torso done then doing the legs etc. So I decided to focus on the endoskeleton and the chest first. Most of the endoskeleton is painted and just needs some fine sanding and one last light coat.
I've noticed that the orange pieces aren't taking the primer well at all. I feel like I need to do a fucking coat of matte white before I try to apply the light blue. There were so many small pieces with the head that I decided that I would hand paint the "V" with some gunmetal paint I have laying around.

On another note, my Zaku sure likes the sword. I think the Blue Frame is going to have a hard time keeping it. The damn thing has its own fucking base. It's insane. I have to say, though. I purchased some sanding sticks that look like emory boards and they are stellar. I remember being at Duane Reade in Brooklyn with a friend of mine and while she was looking at lotions, I noticed the emory boards and said to myself, "Man, why don't they have the sandpaper grade on those things?" Turns out they sell them for woodworking and Amazon had some that were Prime eligible so I grabbed them immediately.
Anyway, I'll be touching up the pieces for the frame and others tomorrow. Expect some updates.
Aaaand I Broke It

So I broke a lot of the pieces of this kit after taking it apart, but I am definitely more confident than I was before started this kit. I'm going to use this as a dry brush tester and move onto the next project.
I'm torn between the Astray Red or Blue Frame or a Quebley. Suggestions?
Zaku II Endoskeleton Painted

So the frame has been airbrushed and assembled. I’m going to hold off on detail work and start getting the plates sanded and primed. I’m going with a baby blue look with orange stripes on the pauldrons. Might try some stenciling on the shield if I get creative. Pretty fucking stoked the airbrush is working so well. Let’s just hope the outer plates are as easy to paint as the endoskeleton was.
