FIELD & STREAM TIP //
Apply under carriage coating to protect your truck against damage caused by corosive salt
BODY //
- To prevent stripping the vehicle's wax finish, use only automotive car wash products, not dishwashing liquids
- Polish at least twice a year to maintain and protect the finish
EXHAUST PIPE //
- Exhaust pipes mainly need replacing because of rust or damage caused by pot holes, curbs or rough trail
- There are several products available to patch small holes in the exhaust pipes
- Keep in mind that if one rust hole is visible, several more will develop soon afterwards
- Pre-bent exhaust pipes are available and are easy to install preventing repeated exhaust hole repairs
- Inspect for leaks, damage and broken supports or hangers if there is an unusual noise
WIPER BLADES //
- Replace blades every 6 months for best visibility
BED //
- Use a bedliner to protect the bed and sidewalls
DRIVING IN RUTS
Take care when driving in deep ruts, as your front tires will tend to follow the ruts regardless of steering-wheel input.
TRAILERING
To maneuver a trailer when reversing, put a hand on the steering wheel at the 6 o’clock position and move that hand in the direction you want the rear of the trailer to go. Movement is multiplied through the vehicle and trailer.
FIVE WAYS TO GET OUT OF THE MUD
Jack, shovel, snatch strap (for a sympathetic buddy to tow you out), floor mats (believe it or not, they’ll help with traction on a slick or soft surface), a winch.
